Premier League promoted Sunderland officially announced that Gisolfi has become the club's new sports director. On Wednesday local time, the Sunderland Club issued an announcement on its official website stating: "The Sunderland Club is happy to announce the appointment of Gilsolfi as the club's sports director. The 40-year-old French director will officially take office on July 3. He just left the office last month from the Rome Club in Serie A." Gilsolfi was a player and began to engage in management after retirement. He has served in Lorient, Lance and Nice. He was invited to serve as the sporting director of the Rome Club last summer and left Rome in June this year. Gisolfi said: "Sunderland achieved amazing results last season, with the players, staff, fans, who have brought Sunderland back to the Premier League together. I will use my experience to support this team and make sure the team takes the next step. It is an exciting challenge and I look forward to working with other senior leaders in Sunderland and enjoying an exciting new chapter in Sunderland's history with our fans."
