Inter Milan strictly controls small off-site vendors: only food is allowed, and no official goods are allowed
According to Inter Milan News, two clubs, Inter Milan and Milan, will clean up small vendors outside the San Siro stadium and prohibit them from selling official club goods. San Siro Stadium is not only the home court of Inter Milan and Milan, but also attracts many tourists. There are many small vendors outside the stadium, selling various goods such as food, jerseys and scarves of the two teams. However, Inter Milan and Milan clubs are preparing to impose strict restrictions on these small vendors. The two clubs jointly control a company called M-I Stadio, which is mainly responsible for managing small vendors in San Siro Stadium and surrounding areas during events such as competitions and concerts. The last contract between the company and the vendors expired on July 31, and M-I Stadio issued a new draft contract to the vendors last Friday. Luigi Leanza, the chairman of the league of 64 vendors outside the San Siro Stadium, revealed that the new draft contract "allows small vendors to renew their contracts in the area until June 30, 2030, but the specific conditions are different from the previous contracts, and M-I Stadio emphasized that all substances cannot be changed. M-I Stadio only allows food to be sold in the area, but no official goods from the two clubs are allowed to be sold. This is a heavy blow from M-I Stadio to us without reason." Luigi Leanza said that this could lead to the loss of hundreds of jobs. He continued: "The municipal government has not officially signed a contract to sell the area to two clubs, so the new contract should not change compared to the previous contract that expired on July 31. So, why does M-I Stadio not allow us to sell official goods?" The ownership of the San Siro Stadium belongs to the Milan Municipal Government, but the municipal government is negotiating with Inter Milan and Milan to prepare to sell San Siro and the surrounding areas to the two clubs, and to build a new stadium belonging to the club. Milan City Councilman Alessandro de Chirico expressed his support for the vendors. "Seven commodity stalls have been cancelled for no reason. I can understand that the two clubs want to sell official goods here, but not all fans can afford a 100 euro jersey. The city government must take action to conduct an emergency mediation."
