Is the Intercontinental Cup the same as the Club World Cup? The predecessor of the Club World Cup was the Toyota Cup (Intercontinental Cup) held from 1960 to 2004. In 2005, FIFA officially launched the Club World Cup, and the 2025 Club World Cup ushered in major reforms.
