Russell also gave up the trade veto when renewing the contract with the Lakers, but was indeed sent away
Yesterday, the Lakers officially announced that the team had completed a contract renewal with center Hayes. According to Lakers reporter Dan Woike, sources told TA that Hayes gave up the veto of the deal during the renewal process. This is not the first time that a Lakers player has given up his trade veto in signing. In the 23-year offseason, Russell renewed the Lakers for 2 years and 37 million yuan. According to the rules, his contract also produced a trade veto, but Russell eventually gave up this right. He is also the first player in history to give up this right. In the mid-24-25 season, he was sent by the Lakers to the Nets for Finney Smith.
