Per-Sports: Real Betis home renovation project is approved and is expected to be put into use in the 2027/2028 season

According to Daily Sports, the renovation project of Real Betis home court Benito Villamarin Stadium has been approved and is expected to be put into use before the 2027/2028 season begins.

Betis's renovation stadium project has ushered in important progress. The Urban Planning Management Committee will finally approve the planning of the Villamarin Stadium plot at its plenary meeting on September 18. Betis submitted the plan on August 22, and the club hopes to ensure the project can be carried out smoothly, with the goal of completing construction in July 2027 after two seasons and putting it into use before the start of the 2027/2028 season.

Currently, Betis is playing at Rakatuha Stadium, while Villamarin Stadium is waiting for the construction company to demolish the stands. Although preliminary work has begun on August 18, the specific demolition date has not been determined and is expected to be implemented within this month.

Two weeks ago, Betis announced that it had entered a new construction phase, using cranes to remove auxiliary panels on the exterior walls, which could cause some stands to collapse. The club explained that the interior and exterior are undergoing demolition of panels, lamps, etc., including removal of revolving doors, 5G facilities and furniture.

In addition, Betis must also solve the problem of croaker perching on the court. In June this year, the SOS Sphereless Association warned the Andalusia Committee on Sustainable Development and Environment that there are protected sparrow populations on the stadium. Therefore, Betis will set up artificial nests near the stadium for the birds migrating from Africa.

The main project of Villamarin Stadium is to rebuild the priority stand. A square will be built next to the stadium for fans to enjoy pre-match activities, as well as a 34-meter building that includes a 150-room hotel, sports clinic, gym, spa and commercial area.
