Official: Cologne signed 36-year-old goalkeeper Ziller from Hannover, and the two sides signed a contract for 2 years

On Monday local time, the Bundesliga promoted Cologne officially announced the signing of 36-year-old goalkeeper Robert Ziller from the Bundesliga team Hannover.

Cologne officially announced that the club's youth training player Ziller has returned to the "Goat House" and the two sides signed a two-year contract on Monday night.

Ziler, 36 years old, was born in Cologne and was trained at the Cologne youth training camp from 1999 to 2005. He played for one season in Cologne on loan in the 20/21 season.

Regarding the return to Cologne, Ziller said: "I grew up in Cologne, I played here for six years and laid the foundation for my career. This is my hometown. Nevertheless, I didn't actually consider transferring before Kessler called me because Hannover has become my home in these years."

"But I had open and honest conversations with both clubs. In the process, I felt great respect from Cologne and they provided me with a clear path to development after the end of my career, which was very important to me. So I made the decision to return to my hometown club and for the next two years I will go all out and work for the success of the team."

Sports director Thomas Kessler said: "We are very happy to sign Ziller. He has been very frank and active from the beginning. We quickly felt that he was willing to accept this competitive challenge, but also willing to bring his abilities and rich experience to the team."

"Especially his leadership on and off the court and his willingness to take responsibility are key factors when making decisions. He is our absolute target player in lineup planning, and he will make a valuable contribution to the team's successful season as an important puzzle."

In his previous career, Ziller played a total of 254 times in the Bundesliga, including 57 clean sheets, and he also played 158 times in the Bundesliga.
