MiTi: About US$3 billion, a Canadian fund company completed the wholly-owned acquisition of Oaktree Capital

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Canadian fund company Brookfield acquired the remaining 26% of Oaktree Capital, the owner of Inter Milan, that it did not already hold in a deal of approximately US$3 billion. Previously, Brookfield already held 74% of Oaktree Capital. This acquisition gave them complete control of Oaktree Capital. This transaction is actually the completion of the acquisition process started in 2019.

Although this is an important equity change, it will have little impact on Inter Milan's actual operations. Brookfield is a fund company listed on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges, with assets under management of up to $88 billion and an extensive business network around the world. Regarding the new stadium project, funds managed by Oaktree Capital will be responsible for paying the first US$73 million for the San Siro/Meazza stadium acquisition, which must be paid before November 10.
