Moody: It’s a great day if everyone plays well, Kuminga shows maturity
In the NBA regular season, the Warriors defeated the Grizzlies 131-118. The reporter went to the scene today, followed the game and attended the press conference after the game. The following is part of Moody's interview compiled by Xiaoba. Question: How exciting did it feel when you hit those two three-pointers in a row to help the team expand its lead? Especially when everyone is contributing and doing those little little things. Answer: Yeah, it was really cool to see that scene, and it was cool to be a part of it. We're like a whole machine running at full speed, with different players doing what they're good at at different times and in different ways. Question: When everyone is in shape like that and everyone on the team can score, does that change - or rather, not "change" - how does it help the overall atmosphere of the team? Answer: When everyone is playing well, it's a good day. You know, Curry and Butler are going to do what they have to do, they're both those guys. Everyone else was able to contribute and perform well too - it was a very happy day for the whole team. Question: Cole said before the game that Podemski may still be looking for form and may have pushed a little too hard. But he played like that tonight. Do you think one game can help the players regain their rhythm and even drive the momentum of the whole team? Answer: It really can. Like you said, sometimes if you're looking, you might just find something. That's how things work. Get a few good games in a row, string them together - that could unlock something special. Question: You have been by Kuminga’s side since he joined the team. You watched his entire evolution with the Warriors. Coach Cole also said today that Kuminga has now found his place in this team. So what does this process look like from your perspective? What did he find that allowed him to truly find his place? Answer: Good question. I have witnessed the journey that Kuminga has gone through. We have grown up together in the NBA world. We have played together in high school. So I really admire him to see him gradually clarifying his thoughts off the court - such as his mentality - and being able to face different situations calmly. It was really cool to watch him grow this summer. Even after going through some turmoil, no matter what the outside world says, after coming here, his attitude, his energy - even when things are not going well - he can still remain himself. The way he carries himself on the court, the kind of person he's become - there's a maturity that shows. And when you do the right things, things usually go in the right direction. Question: Your game will start a little later tomorrow. How do you feel about starting at 8pm and having back-to-back games? Answer: Yes, that’s fine for me. It’s always nice to have a little bit of time to rest between games and that’s the end of our game today.
