Continue to speak❗Lewandow: The Polish coach is ungrateful and agrees that I will call to cancel the captain after I am absent

After announcing his withdrawal from the Polish national team, Lewandowski accepted an interview with the media and once again made remarks about his own deprivation of the national team captain's armband and his decision to withdraw from the team.

Lewan admitted: "I suddenly received a call from Coach Probilds, informing me that I decided to take back the national team captain's armband. I was coaxing my child to sleep at the time and was completely unprepared for it. The call lasted only a few minutes, and I didn't even have time to tell my family or discuss it with anyone, because not long after, the Polish Football Association officially issued an announcement, and this way of communication really surprised me."

- Do you think this is disrespect?

Lewandow: "It's not a year or two for me to be the captain of the national team. I have been wearing the captain's armband for eleven years, and I have been playing for the national team for seventeen years. In my opinion, this kind of thing should be handled in a different way, not to mention that it's still a long time before the next training camp. In addition, we are about to usher in an important game, but all this is just told by phone. It really shouldn't be handled like this. The head coach has let my trust down, and the national team has always been the most important thing for me. At the same time, what happened makes me feel very sad. The problem is not even the decision to deprive the captain's armband itself, but the way they tell me."

- Why should the head coach deprive your captain's armband?

Lewandow: "It's hard for me to say what's behind this decision, because, as I mentioned, the conversation was very brief. I had a feeling that the coach was succumbing to the pressure of the media. He broke the agreement between us, so I was surprised by his attitude."

-What agreement do you have?

Lewandow: "I decided not to participate in this national team, and it was made together with the coach. I wanted to talk to him at the time and ask him about his opinion on letting me take a break. He said he supported this idea, and even he was considering whether to call me for it. However, I originally planned to join the team on the day of the game to say goodbye to Grositsky's national team career. Only Coach Probilds knew about this. Despite this, the news was leaked to the media."

-If the head coach at that time had a different way of communicating with you, such as telling you to change the captain in person, would you still withdraw from the national team?

Lewandow: "Probably not. I think I am a person who can reach a consensus through conversation. Although I have my own opinions, I have been working hard to find the best solution for the national team. During my years of playing for the national team, I have been able to accept a lot of things."

- The media said that the Polish team understood the decision to revoke your captain position. Some even agree very much. What do you think about this?

Lewandow: "After the incident yesterday some Polish internationals called me immediately and I talked to them. They were shocked and asked me if I would change my mind, and even said that maybe I would look at this in a different way when I calmed down. They regretted that they had such a move, which made me feel very relieved."

- Have you ever felt that there was something wrong with the locker room, or some players didn't like your attitude?

Lewandow: "No. Of course we are a team of 25 people, and it is impossible for everyone to be very close. However, I never felt that someone in the national team would mind that I would speak out my own thoughts openly. There will be a lot of speculation, conjecture and various statements now. This is expected."
