Genoa sports director Marco Ottolini talked about the team's transfer and coach Vieira's stay in the team in an interview with Sky Sports.

Genoa had previously intended to loan Inter Milan's 19-year-old center Froscisco Pio Esposito, but the player is currently participating in the Club World Cup with Inter Milan and has scored a goal and performed well. Italian defender Ahano, born in 2008, has played six times in Serie A last season for Genoa's first team.
